On Tuesday, March 8, Church Street Boxing Gym will be hosting the Golden Gloves, a night of boxing featuring New York City’s finest up-and-coming amateur fighters.
The NY Daily News, main sponsor for the event, reports “Started in 1927, the Golden Gloves quickly grew into one of the most popular sporting events in the country. Since that first year, more than 100,000 New Yorkers have stepped into the Golden Gloves ring, with some 1,500 champions walking away with the iconic gloves pendant around their necks. It is still the largest and most prestigious amateur boxing event in the world with the possible exception of the Olympics, and has produced more world champions (41) than any other tournament.” (NY Daily News website)
